Android Wars

Google unveils new LG and Huawei Nexus phones, Google Pixel C tablet, Chrome-cast devices

Google unveiled its new Nexus phones on Wednesday in its latest attempt to take a bite out of Apple's dominant share of the smartphone market.

The launch of the phones, the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X, comes a day after Apple reported record first-weekend sales of its new iPhones, partly due to the fact China was included as a first-day launch country for the first time.

"We've heard loud and clear from some Android users that they feel some phones come installed with too much bloatware," Burke said. "With the new Nexus devices we've reduced the number of pre-loaded apps on the phone to make the out-of-box experience clear and simpler."

Battery breakthrough

Burke also said Google had made its biggest "breakthrough" to date on battery life management with Marshmallow.
