There's a native legend in Trinidad which says that those who eat the cascadura will end their days in the the island no matter where they wander. The cascadur is a small horny-scaled fish found in the muddy slushes of streams, and it makes a delectable dish which few tourist know about, mainly because nobody seems to have enough acumen to advertise it as a tourist attraction.ππ
The flesh of the fish is as fine as that of the sardine, without the freshness, but with a taste all its own, and if you curried -especially when prepared by grinding the ingredients of the curry themselves on a flat stone -it is truly a dish worthy of remark.
