When a trio like this ... Holder, Lara, and Sagar — stands at the entrance of a new establishment, you know something special is happening. And at the opening of 277 Restaurant, the conversation flowed effortlessly from cricket memories to culinary curiosity.

You could taste the batting hand.

During the launch, Brian Lara recalled a moment that perfectly captured the essence of the restaurant’s 277 spirit... a time when he truly believed in himself. It was then that he gained confidence and shaped the identity he wanted in cricket. So, when it came time to start something new, it had to embody those same qualities, Lara said.

Lara share a delighful anecdote from his early cricket day reminiscing about the moment when legendary West Indies batsman Sir Desmond Haynes humorously advised him never to order duck before a match, playfully referring to the cricket term “duck,” which means scoring zero runs.

“I looked at the menu and ordered crispy duck and pancakes,” he said. “Desmond looked at me and said, ‘Man, you can’t order duck ... we’re batting tomorrow.’”

The next day, in classic Lara fashion, he rostered 277 ... not on a scoreboard, but as a flavour worth remembering.

In food terms?

277 Restaurant is a culinary crossroads where global techniques meet a diverse team ...from an English head chef crafting hearty entrΓ©es that rival worldwide standards to an Indian pastry chef creating smooth, decadent desserts — all coming together in a menu that fuses international flavors with local ingredients. Infused with the vibrant touch of Trinidad and Tobago’s fresh island produce and seasoned with a global palate, it’s a place where sports legends gather alongside great food and a warm, community vibe. This is where Trini taste meets world-class technique at 277.

Shane Sagar summed up his vision at opening:

“I think the contributions these individuals have made to the country is often underrated … when you tell people about Trinidad and Tobago they think Brian Lara, Dwight Yorke, and Russell Latapy. We don’t always pay enough homage to these figures ... they’ve put us on the map globally.”

Indeed, 277 isn’t just a restaurant ... it’s a homage to icons, a place where food, sport, and national pride converge.

With nods to former West Indian great like Desmond Haynes and icons football icons  Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy, the atmosphere carries a familiar pride. Whether you’re a football fan, a cricket lover, or just someone who appreciates good food ... 277 offers a vibe that feels like home, with global flavour.
