Lupita Nyong'o has joined other prominent people of colour in Hollywood criticising the Oscars for its glaring lack of diverstity. Idris Elba used a speech at the Houses of Parliament to call for more diversity in British television industry. He said that the lack of roles for people of colour would have left him forever playing "the best friend" or the "cop sidekick", which was a reason he chose to go to America instead.
