End Season!

A Caribbean Reminder

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 ... six months of watchful waiting when the sky looks calm but the seas are stirring.

The Caribbean’s rhythm is vibrant and alive ...from carnival streets to turquoise waters. But amidst the beats and colour, a quieter pulse flows beneath: the annual hurricane season. A reminder that paradise has its caution flags too.

This year, we turn our gaze outward ...to our region’s neighbour Jamaica, where relief efforts continue in the wake of Hurricane Melissa. More than 5 million people across Cuba, Haiti and Jamaica were affected.

The government of Jamaica alone prepared to assist about 400,000 people. And the relief fund recently climbed to J$38 million (≈ US$728,000), nearing the US$1 million mark.

At RWF we cover the vibrant stories of Caribbean culture ... but we also cover its moments of tension, its sudden power-shifts.

Hurricanes remind us that this region is dynamic, fierce and alive. While the parade, colours and music draw the world in, we must remember: preparation isn’t just practical ... it’s part of the culture too.

Stay safe. Stay aware. And keep moving with purpose.
