WTM

 Mexican Caribbean

Today, while diving through travel stories across the web, we stumbled upon something that caught our creative eye ... the presence of the Mexican Caribbean at this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) in London.

It’s fascinating how a region’s story can evolve through travel, trade, and shared experience ... something we at Real World Fiction (RWF) deeply connect with.

At WTM, all twelve destinations of Quintana Roo came together under one Caribbean identity, using the global stage to reintroduce themselves to the world. Their presence didn’t just promote tourism ... it strengthened how culture, community, and commerce intersect through travel.

From Cancun to Tulum, representatives from both the public and private sectors engaged with airlines, international tour operators, and hospitality leaders to spark new connections and open fresh travel routes. It was more than just an exhibit .. it was cultural diplomacy in motion.

Speaking from London, David Ortiz Mena, President of the Hotel Council of the Mexican Caribbean and the Tulum Hotel Association, highlighted the importance of WTM as one of the world’s leading tourism trade fairs ... a place where ideas about visibility, sustainability, and experience merge into new opportunities for destinations that live off their culture and coastlines.

"The mexican Caribbean presented a solid and unified image to international markets, reaffirming its position as one  of the most competive destinations worldwide," he said

Well  the closest I’ve been to the Mexican Caribbean is through a souvenir jersey from Cozumel ... a gift from my sister’s fiancé who works on a ship. But somehow, I get it. Caribbean is Caribbean.

So, shout out to the peeps in Cozumel and across the Mexican Caribbean ... flying their regional flag in style.

From Port of Spain to Playa del Carmen, the story is one ... we move the world through color, culture, and connection.
